Background:

Shareholders

Wantok Niuspepa, through its parent company, is owned and operated by a Board of Directors comprised of membership from four of the five mainline churches in PNG.

  Roman Catholic   : 55%

  Lutheran  : 25%

  Anglican  : 10%

United Church  : 10%

The company receives an annual grant from mother churches, mainly in Europe and PNG to assist the newspaper to carry out its community project obligations in the areas of church news publication on the work of churches in PNG, women’s issues, health, education, and other community projects.

 

 

Editorial:


2 news reporters, 1 sports reporter and stringers (freelance reporters) and 2 sub- editors operate under the guidance of the editor in our newsroom.

We gather general and sports news during the week and over the weekend and file for Thursday when we come out.

Our busiest day is Wednesday where we finalize everything for printing before Thursday.

One of our aims is to try and standardize tok pisin and to reach as wide an audience as possible.

 

 

 

 


Advertising:


We tell people of products and services in the language every Papua New Guinean understands -Tok Pisin.

 

We also provide translation service from English to Tok Pisin

 

 

 


Circulation and Distribution:


The Wantok Niuspepa is Printed by Pacific Star Limited, owners of the National Newspaper.

More than 12, 000 papers of 32 pages are printed weekly and distributed nationwide at K1.30 and in NCD at K1.00 only.

More than 4, 000 copies are distributed and delivered Free Of Charge to schools, hospitals, Provincial Governments, Mining communities, church groups and NGO’s in PNG.

1, 500 papers are distributed through paid subscriptions nationally and internationally and 6,500 is sold to the public.
